After the magnificent experience we had last year, this February, the students of 3rd and 4th of ESO and 1st of Baccalaureate have had the opportunity to attend a talk by the NGO Open Arms.
With the help of Theodora Dumitrescu, we have been able to experience and understand the work that this non-governmental organization does.
Open Arms is an NGO with a main mission: to protect human rights at sea and lives that are left adrift, to prevent senseless deaths, rescuing refugees trying to reach Europe fleeing war, persecution or poverty. The workshop has given us direct testimonies of the humanitarian crisis and the missions that took place on the coasts of Lesbos (Greece) since September 2015 and in the Central Mediterranean from June 2016 until today.
After the talk, the students had an open debate with Theodora, where our students were able to ask questions that worried them about the facts and actions they had just seen.
From CreaNova we continue to work with Open Arms and other groups, associations and institutions in order to have the maximum knowledge of what is happening in the world and trying to clarify the doubts of our teenagers, cultivating a critical spirit in the face of life.
Thank you Theodora for giving us the opportunity to learn about your work!
