Following the magnificent experience of last year, this February, students in 3rd and 4th year of ESO and 1st year of Bachillerato had the opportunity to attend a talk by the NGO Open Arms.
By the hand of Theodora Dumitrescu, we have been able to experience and understand the work that this non-governmental organization does.
Open Arms is an NGO with a primary mission: to protect human rights at sea and the lives left adrift, to prevent senseless deaths, rescuing refugees trying to reach Europe fleeing war, persecution or poverty. The workshop has made us direct witnesses of the humanitarian crisis and the missions that have been carried out on the coasts of Lesbos (Greece) since September 2015 and in the Central Mediterranean since June 2016 to date.
After the talk, the students had a discussion with Theodora, where our students were able to ask questions that concerned them about the events and actions they had just seen.
At CreaNova we continue to work with Open Arms and other groups, associations and institutions to gain the maximum knowledge of what is happening in the world and to try to clarify the doubts of our teenagers, cultivating a critical spirit in life.
We are grateful to Theodora for giving us the opportunity to learn about her work. Thank you very much!
