Philosophy in Action

Sowing Critical Thinking at CreaNova.

In a world that moves forward without pause, where the answers seem to anticipate the questions, CreaNova's philosophy workshops become an oasis of reflection and personal growth. Here, time slows down so that each student can look inward, question their surroundings and discover what is essential. But what makes these workshops so special?

More than a subject, they are an invitation to explore the big questions of existence: Who am I? What does it mean to be free? What is justice? These questions are intertwined with the experiences, dreams and challenges that students face every day. As Matthew Lipman, creator of the Philosophy 3/18 methodology, said: "You cannot teach how to think, but you can create the conditions for thinking to develop".

This academic year 24-25 A CRANOVA has started to deploy the 1+3/18 philosophy programme in the ESO optional workshops.

The Philosophy 3/18 methodology is an educational proposal that seeks to develop critical, creative and careful thinking from 3 to 18 years of age. Based on the creation of communities of enquiry, this methodology promotes reflective dialogue and joint exploration of ideas. In our workshops, we implement this methodology through readings, discussions and activities that encourage students to ask meaningful questions, reason coherently and listen actively to their peers. Through constructive dialogue and through discussions, personal reflections, creative projects and practical exercises, students develop skills (such as critical thinking, creativity, empathy and communication, self-awareness) that transcend the classroom.

These workshops are a space to cultivate fundamental values. Respect, curiosity and open-mindedness are pillars in every encounter. Students find a place where differences are celebrated and learning happens in community. In essence, these workshops are a unique opportunity to plant seeds of ideas that, while they may seem like simple reflections now, have the potential to germinate in the future, when each student needs them at the appropriate time. The dynamics of philosophy workshops, based on Socratic dialogue, ethical dilemmas and interdisciplinary connection, allow these seeds to blossom naturally in the personal and academic development of the students. In a world that often prioritises immediacy and superficiality, we invite students to stop, think deeply and question. CreaNova's philosophy workshops are more than an educational experience; they are an investment in the human future of our students. We are committed to continuing to cultivate a space where they can develop fully, becoming reflective individuals and conscious citizens, giving them the tools to build their own path with confidence and purpose. Together, we sow today the reflections that will flourish in the future, cultivating minds that think, feel and question to build a better tomorrow.
